Gonçalo Maia Caetano

Founder

Gonçalo Maia Caetano is a classical guitarist from Portugal, and graduate of the Royal Academy of Music. He has performed across Europe at venues including Kings Place in London and the Wiener Saal in Salzburg, and in 2023 won 1st Prize at the prestigious Prince's Prize competition. He has taken masterclasses with David Russell, Fabio Zanon, and Roland Dyens, among others. Alongside his classical studies, Gonçalo is an active jazz musician: he leads his own project, Maia, and plays bass in the Phemo Quartet, whose debut album releases this year.

Perform for each other

Members play to each other in monthly performance sessions. Sessions cycle around the homes of members who are happy to host locally. Many sessions will be accompanied by Gonçalo Maia Caetano, who will offer feedback and encouragement.

We improve our skills by getting used to the nerves and emotions we feel when performing, and from peer and Gonçalo Maia Caetano's feedback.

Questions, answered

What will happen at society sessions?

At society sessions, members can practice their performance skills by playing to the rest of the group. On a regular basis, we are joined by our Society Leader who offers tips and advice after each performance. We learn from direct feedback, and by listening to feedback offered to others.

When does the society launch?

We are launching in late 2026. Join the waitlist to be the first to know about our launch.

Do I need to be an advanced player to join?

Not at all. The society welcomes every standard, from complete beginners to professional performers.

How much will sessions cost?

Membership pricing is being finalised ahead of launch. Playing sessions are opportunities to perform to a small group of peers, and Gonçalo Maia Caetano, who will offer expert feedback and advice.
